| Audio CD Description New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts returns to a familiar subject-treasure, the kind of treasure found among the shipwrecks in the balmy waters of the West Indies and the treasure of love--love of family, love between the unlikeliest of partners, love found and lost and found again. Marine archeologist Tate Beaumont finds herself thrown together with salvager Matthew Lassiter, eight years after he brutally crushed her first stirrings of young love, as they again attempt to locate Angelique's Curse, an amulet heavy with jewels and history, tainted by blood and madness. An earlier expedition ended in betrayal and tragedy, changing both their lives forever and leaving their families inextricably entwined. Matthew has an agenda of his own: to draw out Tate's former employer, the unscrupulous and mysterious millionaire responsible for killing his father and maiming his uncle--who will stop at nothing to get his hands on Angelique's Curse. Tate and Matthew find themselves circling each other warily, each unsure of the other's motives, yet drawn together by passion and danger beneath the azure waves. The Reef is an entertaining read, delighting readers with its meticulous research and detail, but it fails to adequately develop the tension between its lead characters caused by the love neither trusts can overcome the past. --Alison Trinkle |

The Reef is Exquisite! I can't say enough good things about THE REEF! It shows a strong female character in a field that used to be dominated by men, and a strong sensitive male that isn't afraid to dream.
This is a fantasy come true and involves marine archeologist Tate Beaumont and Matthew Lassiter and their families. The families run into each other while treasure-hunting for Angelique's Curse - a treasure that has eluded everyone, and many think it is only a myth. But this artifact is worth everything to some, even worth killing another.
As this joint expedition continues, it holds all of the elements needed for a great story: mystery, romance, secrets that can't be shared, deceptions and threats. There are so many angles that could have been pursued the reader isn't sure which avenue Nora Roberts will take until she delivers them to it. This always keeps you on the edge of your seat, and gives you a first hand "view" of the undersea world of beauty and intrigue.
I highly recommend THE REEF and only wish it would have continued - or at least had a sequel in the works! Great characters and fantastic plot will hook the reader from the beginning. One of Nora Roberts better works!
A real page turner. This was the second book by Nora Roberts that I read. I loved this book, because it kept my attention from the first page to the very end of the book. This book made me want to quit my job and hunt for treasures hidden at sea. This book is good for those who love a good adventure.
Diving for Gold Readers will unearth gems (pardon the pun!) in this book about divers salvaging shipwrecks for treasures.
Tate, a marine archaeology student, joined her parents one summer searching for undiscovered shipwrecks. They became partners on their adventure with Matthew Lassiter and his uncle, a famed family of salvagers who've had their share of bad luck. The team struck gold when they managed to find a wreck with all its treasures but tragedy hit when a member of the expedition was badly injured. Tate and Matthew were driven apart in the aftermath of the tragedy as their treasure trove were stolen by an evil man searching for a priceless neckless.
Years later, sparks fly between the two once again when Tate's father asked his former partners, Matthew and his uncle, to join them on another expedition to find a legendary shipwreck that is rumored to hold the necklace called Angelique's Curse. Their love was put to the test as the insane man lurks, ready to pounce and grab everything for himself yet again.
One thing you can be sure of when reading a Nora Roberts book is that it will be like no other that she has written, unless of course it is a trilogy or series. Every book has own unique story line and its own stamp of excellence. The Reef is no different. |
