Jon Stewart on America (The Book)

Sure, we could write a pithy blurb telling you all about America (The Book), by Jon Stewart and the writers of The Daily Show, but it's much easier--and funnier--to let Jon Stewart tell you all about this irreverent book himself.

  • Watch Jon Stewart talk to Amazon.com customers about America (The Book) from the set of The Daily Show.
  • Read or listen to our exclusive interview with Jon Stewart.
  • Read our exclusive Election 2004 interview with Jon Stewart.

What's funny is that people actually found this "thoughtful"

I guess it just goes to show that an interesting book cover doesn't alway mean that you always get a meaningful book. I know, I know, it is Jon Stewart, but I thought it might have more depth. It just goes to show you what some people actually consider "quality time", and in this case, nice try! I personally got a laugh out of all the reviews who said that this book is a thoughtful read. You'll also find these people finding brilliance in Larry, the Cable Guy, although Larry does have his moments. But all in all, not much depth here, people.

I didn't find this book the least bit thoughtful, or even too much in depth, because it was all covered up by the ranting and raving, with not much thought to it at all. Some people like Jon Stewart don't need thought. They simply needed freedom of speech, freedom of choice, and then a book like this comes out of it. But I think he forgot his hip waders when he took on a project like this. (no applause, please)

I don't like the format but the rest is good

I have never watched The Daily Show but the book is great! You will like it no matter if you are pro Democrat or pro Republican. It is safe to give as a gift to almost anyone. If you want to add something more serious to the package, throw in "Can We Live 150 Years?" by M. Tombak.

    Required Reading

I love this book. It is just amazingly well written. What really grabbed me from the start was that it really teaches you the way our government works. It just uses humor, so as not to bore you to death. What else is expected from the minds that bring you "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart"? All the information presented in the book is accurate in terms of the processes of our government. The book just states the obvious that no one else ever cared to vote. You are meant to learn from the book; it's just fun learning. I love how the book highlights the discrepancy between the politics and what we think is going on.
